The Larger than Life organization was founded in 1999, intending to improve the quality of life of Israeli children suffering from cancer, regardless of religion, race or ethnicity. The organization’s diverse activities are carried out by a cadre of loyal and devoted volunteers, who are highly regarded by the sick children, their parents and, of course, the medical and nursing teams in hospitals throughout Israel.
Larger than Life – L.A. Family is a Los Angeles-based foundation whose goal – in conjunction with its Israeli parent organization – is to improve the quality of life of Israeli children with cancer, bringing hope and joy into their young lives, thus also improving their response to treatments.
Every summer, Larger than Life – L.A. Family hosts a group of 20-30 children with cancer, accompanied by a medical and nursing team. the children enjoy two magical weeks on the West Coast. They visit Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas, including the great attractions those cities have to offer: Universal Studios, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Disneyland, Helicopter tours over the city, Mann’s Chinese Theater, Sea World, the Las Vegas Strip and much more. Every year while the children are here, they also take part in our annual fundraiser Gala Event with guest performances of current artists.
Some of these children just recently could not imagine a future, let alone an opportunity to travel to such distant and magical places. We have found out that trips like these can give the children a lifetime of joy and hope, that improves their ability to cope with the harsh treatments and defeat the terrible disease. We at Larger than Life – LA Family are dedicated with all our hearts to offering the children a brighter present and a better future. We want to fulfill our mission of giving! All the members and Directors of Larger than Life in L.A. and in Israel contribute their time, talent and energy on a voluntary basis. The organization embraces and cares for hundreds of Jewish, Arab, Bedouin and Druze children and teens in the oncology wards of all hospitals from Israel.
Aside from sponsoring the annual West Coast Dream Trip, Larger than Life – L.A. Family, with generous help from friends like you, built two new children’s waiting rooms at Tel-Hashomer Hospital in Israel. For 2006-2008, we have committed the funds to build two laboratories for applied cancer research in the same hospital, as well as a new ward to be built at Rambam Hospital in Haifa.
We are deeply involved with this fantastic organization. We are very excited about our undertaking, and really hope we can get you involved too... We would like to bring more groups to America, in addition to helping the many activities of the Organization in Israel.
Larger than Life – L.A. Family has already left its mark on the Israeli community in Los Angeles with its young, enthusiastic spirit, its high-quality events and, most of all, with its sacred mission.

Larger than Life – LA Family operates in the United States in accordance with U.S. law and complies with IRS guidelines for tax exempt charitable contributions. Our organization in both countries receives no government allocations, and its activities are made possible solely by the generosity of private citizens and the business community.
