Chai Lifeline was established in l987 with the goal of bringing joy and hope to seriously ill Jewish children and their families. Chai Lifeline’s guiding principles are that seriously ill children need and deserve as happy and normal a childhood as possible, and that the well-being of a child is dependent upon the well-being of the family. The organization began with a single program, Camp Simcha, the first kosher, medically supervised overnight camp for children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Today, Chai Lifeline is an international organization with four regional branches in the United States, with associate branches in Israel, Canada and Europe, and more than twenty-five programs which provide vital support for medically ill Jewish children and their families.
Chai Lifeline’s West Coast region, the Sohacheski Family Center, opened its doors in 1999 to serve the growing number of West Coast-area families in need of services. Like our parent organization, Chai Lifeline West Coast is passionately devoted to alleviating the burden of those facing medical challenge. Our programs and services are all available free of charge and help maintain family life by alleviating the many social, emotional and financial burdens of pediatric illness. Among them are:
